By studying United States and Virginia history students will gain an understanding of the historical development of American ideas and institutions from the age of exploration to the present. With the use of historical and geographic analysis skills, students will explore the major issues, events, ideas, and people in United States and Virginia history giving them a basic knowledge of American culture.
