Online Psychology, Week 9 - Covid 19 and Human Behavior
This week, I wanted to begin with social psychology concepts and how they relate to our behavior during COVID-19.
Objective: Students will understand ways in which Covid-19 has impacted social behaviors. Concepts include: Availability heuristic; unrealistic optimism; group polarization; social dilemmas/tragedy of the commons; social responsibility norm
Steps:
1. Download either of the two worksheets to fill in. The first one is a word file, the second one is a PDF. They are the same worksheet.
2. Watch the first ten minutes of the video "Human Behavior Amid the Covid-19 Crisis" (the last two minutes will not answer any questions). As you watch, complete the associated questions on your form (you may also write your answers on a separate sheet of paper).
3. Watch the five minute video "What is the Tragedy of the Commons" and answer the 11th question on the worksheet.
4. Reflect on your own experiences during this time, as well as your experiences in school and what you've learned in the video, and answer the question, "What should schools look like when they open up in the fall?" The prompt is on the second page of the downloaded file.
Submit your work through itslearning or e-mail it to ryan.bayne@hcps.org. Take a picture of the work if necessary; do not send any blank worksheets!
If you have any questions, please reach out.
